AmTRAN claims doubling in profit in first half.
(US$ 27.66 million) in the first half, with after-tax EPS reaching NT$ 1.04
(US$ 0.0346), doubling year on year (YoY), according to Y. P. Qiu, chief finance office (CFO).
Qiu indicated that in the first half, AmTRAN's combined revenues reached
NT$ 29.2 billion (US$ 973.3 million), up 13.6% YoY; combined after-tax profits hit NT$ 910 million (US$ 30.3 million); pre-tax profit was NT$ 1.13 billion
(US$ 37.66 million), and pre-tax earning per share (EPS) was NT$ 1.3 (US$ 0.043).
Qiu added the firm's second-quarterly revenue was NT$ 10.2 billion (US$ 340 million), with gross profit margin (GPM) of 10.03%, and gross profit of NT$ 1.03 billion (US$ 34.3 million). Meanwhile its after-tax profit reached NT$ 420 million (US$ 14 million), increasing 3.2 times YoY, with after-tax EPS of NT$ 0.53 (US$ 0.0176), up 3.4 times YoY. Besides, its pre-tax EPS was NT$ 0.65 (US$ 0.0216), and pre-tax profit reached NT$ 510 million (US$ 17 million) in the second quarter.
Despite slowing global economy causing lower demand for LCD TVs, AmTRAN still strengthened high-end and large-sized shipments, trying to garner profits from this niche market. Therefore, among all shipments in the first half, 50% of which was from large-sized products such as 42-inch to 65-inch liquid crystal display (LCD) TVs, and 30% of which came from Smart TVs.
Looking towards the second half, Qiu remains optimistic about the third quarter performance, expecting stability based on booked orders so far, also predicting the peak season to fall in the fourth quarter as usual, when operating performance is expected to be better than the previous quarter.
