Broadband wireless access solutions provider Alvarion Ltd is set to provide broadband access to schools in Namibia.
Alvarion will deploy 45 BreezeACCESS base stations to provide a broadband wireless access network in the 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz frequency bands. This will provide broadband Internet access to approximately 900 schools, some of which do not currently have a telephone line.
The project is part of Namibia's SchoolNet project which aims to provide a telecomms network providing Internet access to all educational institutions in Namibia.
The cost of the network deployment was not announced.
