IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 13, 2003

Millions of Texas seniors who lack group-sponsored dental benefits can now purchase them as individuals, thanks to a specially designed plan unveiled today by Alpha Dental Programs, Inc.

The DeltaCare Senior Dental Plan is a new dental HMO program offered by Alpha Dental, affiliate of Irving-based Delta Dental Insurance Company. Tailored to meet the specific dental treatment needs of older adults, the new plan covers services most common to those 55 and older.

Last year, Alpha Dental launched the DeltaCare Individual/Family Dental Plan, which offers a scope of services more appropriate to younger adults and their family members such as orthodontics.

"These two programs will increase the availability of dental benefits for millions statewide," said Robert Elliott, president of Delta Dental Insurance Company. "By carefully matching a program design to the needs of the targeted population, we can keep both programs more affordable. And we've made it easy to enroll over the phone, on the web or by mail."

Both programs are administered by affiliate PMI Dental Health Plan, one of the largest dental HMOs in the nation. Detailed program information may be found online at or by calling (800) 422-4234 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Central time, Monday through Friday.

Alpha Dental Programs, Inc. and PMI Dental Health Plan are both affiliates of Delta Dental Insurance Company. Together, Alpha Dental and Delta Dental Insurance Company provide dental benefits to more than half a million people in Texas. Both companies are also affiliated with the national Delta Dental Plans Association, whose member Plans collectively cover more than 45 million people nationwide.
