Almondbury area represented at new synod.

ALMONDBURY Deanery Synod representatives were in Harrogate for the first meeting of the Synod of the new diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales.

The diocese was formally inaugurated on Easter day in York Minster by Archbishop John Sentamu.

Melding three dioceses will take time.

The agenda provided a platform for people to express their views and get to know people from other areas of the diocese and so begin to grow together as the meeting discussed proposals for the governance of the diocese, financial matters and gave an opportunity for members to amend standing orders.

'Characters' quickly became known and the meeting proved friendly and enabled a sense of belonging.
