Almabani, Saudia Aviation, Toyota Sequoia bag titles in JBL event.

Almabani of Vic Carreon defeated Jeddah Eagles 60-58 for the Group A championship in the JBL Invitational Basketball Tournament 2013.

It was a ding-dong battle between the two ball clubs. Employing tough defense in the dying seconds Almabani never gave the Eagles ball handlers room to execute their offensive plays as they committed a crucial turnover as the final buzzer sounded.

Caguioa top-scored with 16 points for Almabani and was adjudged as the Giordano best player of the game while Casingal and Lico each had 18 points apiece for Eagles.

This tournament is sponsored by Giordano Fashions (Ahmedullah), ABS CBN-The Filipino Channel, Saudi Signs (Sam Adora), Al Haddaf Sportswear (Mohamed Bayoumi), Arab News and Arabian Food Supplies Catering Division (Ahmad Miri).

Saudia Aviation of Andrew Masongsong beat Noel Sun's ALJ Central Purchasing 62-61 in Game 3 of Inter-Company Group B division title series to claim the championship trophy.

Both teams played good defense in the whole game. ALJ Central Purchasing had a chance to win in its final ball possession but missed the undergoal shot as the final buzzer sounded. Chamen had 22 points for Saudia Aviation and was adjudged as the JBL best player of the game while Kevin Llamado scored 15 points for ALJ Central Purchasing.

The Central Purchasing defeat prevented what would have been another ALJ championship double after Toyota Sequoia of Jimmy Abdullah Beltran won the Inter-Company Group C via a sweep of the championship series against Awdah. ALJ teams claimed two titles in another tournament last month.

During the awarding ceremony JBL President Mohammad Rasheed Suyat, Commissioner Joe Dela Cerna and Jeddah Dawa Center Ustad Ahmad Peradilla handed over the trophies and Giordano gifts to the winners.
