Alliance is as sordid as the hunt.

SIR - Steve DubA's write-up 'Repeal the Hunting Act is new resolution', (Country & Farming, January 9) read like it came straight from the Countryside Alliance's website.

Simon Hart gloated they won overwhelmingly a BBC Radio 4 poll, to repeal the most useless law. He said they won it fair and square! So how come I was able to vote on a law twice and both were accepted?

I have to hand it to the Countryside Alliance, they will try anything to overturn the ban on cruelty, even if it means using every dirty trick in the book to advance their vile cause. They say they are more popular than ever, despite the ban.

It seems all the hunt has to do is click a finger and they have their full-page propaganda spread. But we never see gory pictures of a terror-stricken fox with its head in the jaws of a hound while being disembowelled by another lead dog, or a victorious hunter holding aloft the ravaged remains of a once-beautiful animal.

No, all we see in the newspapers are the colourful pictures of riders on horseback surrounded by hounds or children patting the dogs.

The Countryside Alliance would have us all think hunting with dogs is just good, harmless picturesque fun but the reality is as sordid as the extremist element of the organisation itself.
