Allen Group characterizes third quarter earnings.

with analysts after the stock market closed Monday, The Allen Group Inc. ("Allen") indicated that it expected to report earnings per common share from continuing operations of approximately $.27 - $.28 for the quarter ended September 30, 1995, in line with analysts' expectations. Earnings per common share from continuing operations for the third quarter in 1994 were $.21. Allen's continuing operations include the Mobile Communications and Centralized Automotive Emission Testing segments, and excludes the Truck Products segment which was spun-off to shareholders on September 29, 1995. The Truck Products results (and the costs associated with this spin-off) will be reported as discontinued operations.

Robert G. Paul, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Allen Group, stated: "Our earnings from continuing operations continued to grow in the third quarter, reflecting ongoing strength in the world-wide wireless communications market. We expect to release our full earnings statement for the third quarter on November 1, 1995, which will also include the discontinued operations."
