All things nice; NORTH designer to the stars KATE FEARNLEY has produced a stunning collection for spring/summer. LIZ LAMB brings you an exclusive preview.

GIRLS Aloud, Jordan, The Saturdays and a host of soap stars are all fans of fashion designer Kate Fearnley.

Her stylish party dresses have proved a hit with other celebrities such as singers Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Pixie Lott and Sinitta and have helped earn her the crown of Young Fashion Entrepreneur in the recent Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year Awards.

This year looks to get even better for the Middlesbrough fashionista who has produced a colourful collection for spring/summer. The designer kindly let us have an exclusive sneak preview of her new range which is available in boutiques across the UK and online at Kate says: "This season's inspiration is taken from 1950s glamour and vintage lingerie. Think sugar and spice and all things nice."

The spring/summer looks incorporate vintage feminine shapes featuring bell-shaped dresses, structured busts mixed with exaggerated sleeves, full ballet skirts and ruffles.

"You will see tulle, pretty spot net and laces, all-over sequins, matte satins, taffetas, cobweb laces, 50s check and embellished metallic mesh," explains the designer.

Spring/summer colours will feature sorbet shades and a candy-coloured palette of Champagne pink, ecru and vibrant violet mixed with bold colour flashes of raspberry pinks, silver, black and white.

A catwalk show of Kate Fearnley's designs will be taking place on February 4 at the Eye For an Eye charity launch at the Concept Eye Clinic, High Street, Gosforth, Newcastle.

The event is to launch a newly-formed aid organisation Eye for an Eye which will send out free eye care to deprived people in the North East as well as internationally.

New collections from Mykita, Kirk Originals, Oliver People and Ronit Furst will also be unveiled alongside hair and make-up trends from Vidal Sassoon and Serenity Spa.
