VOLKSWAGEN is introducing a black and white version of its Scirocco, which the company is hoping will not get relegated from its premier position in the sales charts.
It sports black alloy wheels, a black roof, door mirrors and rear spoiler, and black tinted rear windows.
Priced from PS23,135 for the GT 1.4-litre TSI BlueMotion Technology model, it represents a premium of PS550 over the equivalent GT.
The 18-inch Lisbon alloy wheels alone would be a PS610 option on the GT trim, while the tinted windows are a PS70 option.
Styling highlights include eyecatching headlight and LED tail light designs, and a front bumper with aerodynamic "blades"' Inside, the dashboard has an auxiliary instrument cluster above the centre console containing chronometer, charge pressure and oil temperature gauges.
Beneath the Scirocco's bonnet lies one of six turbocharged direct-injection petrol or diesel engines, all of which meet EU6 emissions standards and achieve between 67mpg and 35mpg, allegedly.
Every model in the range except the R feature BlueMotion Technology additions, meaning they come as standard with Stop/Start and brake energy recuperation systems.
In the new GT Black Edition and R-Line Black Edition guises the petrol range comprises a 1.4-litre 125bhp or a 2.0-litre 180bhp unit while two 2.0-litre diesel engines offer either 150bhp or 184nhp.
The 1.4-litre TSI comes with a six-speed manual gearbox, while all other engines are fitted with a standard six-speed manual gearbox or the option of a six-speed DSG gearbox.
Acceleration to 0-60mph ranges from 9.3s to 5.5s, depending on the engine and transmission, while top speeds range from 125mph to 155mph.
Standard equipment across the range includes a Composition Media system with a 6.5-inch colour touchscreen, Bluetooth telephone and audio connection, DAB digital radio receiver, Multi Device Interface via USB connection, SD card reader and single CD player.
There is also air conditioning, automatic headlights and wipers, an auto-dimming rear view mirror, height-adjustable sports seats and a multifunction leather-covered steering wheel with paddleshifts on DSG models.
The Scirocco GT also boasts Discover Navigation, 2Zone climate control, front fog lights, front and rear parking sensors, a black roof lining, "chequered flag" dash inserts, aluminium-look pedals and cloth and part Alcantara-trimmed upholstery.
Available in a few other colours in addition to ones with the white body, the Scirocco GT Black is available to order today for delivery from January.
