All set for a giant of an event.

FINISHING touches are being put to a conference which will see dwarves from around the world come to Liverpool.

The Walking With Giants convention is the brainchild of John and Sue Connerty, of Maghull, whose son Alex is Merseyside's only primordial dwarf.

The October 13-17 event, the country's first such convention, will allow experts to meet families affected by the condition.

Youngsters will have the chance to meet others with the condition, while their parents can see top doctors from the UK and USA.

The event takes place at the Jury's Inn hotel, which is providing discounted accommodation, buffets and facilities, while taxi firm Blueline will transport families around.

Mrs Connerty said: "So many wonderful people are helping us out to make this a magical and wonderful event."
