All set for YFC contests day.

Members of Northumberland Young Farmers Club are practising hard for the forthcoming Northern Area Field Day to be held tomorrow.

The event will be hosted by Northumberland YFC and will be held at Thornton Towers Farm, Newbrough, Hexham, by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Michael Gibson.

Young Farmers from Cumbria, Durham, East Riding, Lancashire, Yorkshire and Northumberland will be competing against each other in a total of 47 competitions ranging from cookery, stock judging and flower arranging to road safety and countryside knowledge in a bid to win the Earl of Derby Trophy. The two main sponsors of the event are Waitrose and Northumberland National Park.

Stewart Weatherson, Northumberland YFC county chairman, said: "Without our sponsors we would not be able to put on such a fun packed day for our members. We are extremely grateful to Northumberland National Park Authority and Waitrose for their sponsorship"

After the competitions, members will be attending the Field Day Dance which will be held at the same venue.

Also, Northumberland YFC are currently making preparation for their 75th anniversary which is to be held next year.
