lStraight Row (Jim Dreaper/Tommy Carberry) is bound for the Arkle Trophy at Cheltenham after his smooth defeat of Persian Camp (Frank Cundell/Bob Davies) in the novice chase at Ascot.

lMartin O'Halloran is concussed when Nagari (Peter Cundell) falls in this race, and John Francome steps in as stablemate Coolishall just holds Master Spy (Tim Forster/Graham Thorner) in the three-mile chase.

lFrancome is also on the mark as Ruby Wine (Fred Winter) is too good for Flying Romany (Josh Gifford/Bob Champion in the first leg of the novice hurdle.

lChance A Look (Syd Woodman/Colin Brown) may be off to stud after her defeat of Bredgar (Diane Oughton/Nick Holman) in the opportunity chase. There is talk of a mating with Menelek.

lZafonic (Andre Fabre), winner of the Dewhurst, Morny and Salamandre, is rated the top juvenile as the International Classifications are published. He is 1lb in front of the Racing Post Trophy winner Armiger (Henry Cecil), who also belongs to Khalid Abdullah, and 3lb in front of the filly Lyric Fantasy (Richard Hannon).

lThe mills of God are grinding slowly for Dick Hern and Barry Hills, who are fined pounds 200 over each horse following the positive tests on Bravefoot, Norwich and Flying Diva more than two years ago.
