lNorfolk Air (Arthur Budgett/Joe Mercer) gets a 33-1 quote for the Derby as he outruns Partridge Brook (Mick Easterby/Edward Hide) in the juvenile maidens-at-closing event on Town Moor.

lTwo wins and two close seconds at Newbury for Oliver Sherwood and Jamie Osborne. Southerly Buster, who missed last term with a pelvic injury, is too good for Tom Troubadour (Josh Gifford/Eamon Murphy) in the novice chase, and Arctic Call upsets odds-on Man O'Magic (Kim Bailey /Mark Perrett) in the three-miler.

lThe near-misses are Young Snugfit against Hogmanay (Richard Casey/ Hywel Davies) in the two-mile chase, and Young Pokey, who is pipped by Gifford's Book Of Gold (Richard Rowe) in the second leg of the novice hurdle.

lLast year's Whitbread Gold Cup winner Brown Windsor (Nicky Henderson) has had a training setback and will miss the Hennessy later this month.
