All eyes on Trump.

This is with reference to the report "US role 'more important than ever' under Trump: UAE" (Nov. 14). These days all eyes are on US President-elect Donald Trump. The US presidential elections are always monitored with enthusiasm because of the country's superpower status. The recently concluded election had become all the more interesting because of the controversial statements issued by Trump during electioneering. However, soon after winning the election we are noticing a visible change in Trump's overall body language and tone. I believe that we must not judge Trump based on his election rhetoric. It would be too early to lose hope. Trump is most likely to take some concrete steps for the resolution of conflicts in the Middle East. Unlike President Obama, I don't think Trump will sit idly by and do nothing to end the Syrian conflict. Donald Trump is a shrewd businessman, who knows that the interests of each and every country or region are intertwined. Unrest in the Middle East will have a direct impact on the rest of the world. - Naved Ghani, Dammam
