All aboard the Christmas express!

A RAILWAY enthusiast has transformed his front garden model railway into a winter wonderland to raise money for charity this Christmas.

Train spotter Eric Marshall spent three years lovingly building the model railway, complete with tiny passengers, stations and its own cable car, on his lawn in Bagby, near Thirsk, North Yorkshire.

He encourages visitors to make a donation to his charity of choice, Macmillan Cancer Support.

Now he has given his railway a festive makeover by adding hundreds of Christmas lights to raise funds to heat his village church, St Mary's in Bagby, during the festive season.

The 68-year-old even scaled the roof of his bungalow to install a special train-shaped light, surrounded by festive bells and stars.
