Akutsu addresses the computational complexity of algorithms and problems regarding Boolean networks and probabilistic Boolean networks, which are increasingly being used to model biological processes. He considers three fundamental problems: finding a steady state in a given network, inferring a network structure from sample data, and finding a control strategy to drive a network from a given initial state to a given target state. He also briefly introduces the semi-tensor product approach that Daizhan Cheng and his colleagues proposed and developed, because it is being widely used. (Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR)
