Alert engineers avert major power grid failure in Uttar Pradesh.
Chairman of UPPCL, Anil Kumar Gupta, said that the assumption or presumption of Uttar Pradesh being responsible for the recent power grid failure was wrong.
He said the dip in the frequency occurred at 10.48 a.m., and the monitoring engineers were successful in preventing the power grid failure.
"We informed the officials of the northern regional load dispatch centre about the dip in frequency that took place at 10.48 a.m. This is the chart of the frequency dip. This was the recurrence of the situation of the grid failure, which occurred on July 30 and July 31. The graph went down. People were at their homes, as it was a holiday, but the state load dispatch centre conducted an immediate investigation and we were informed about it. We had cut the electricity of few cities and we were successful in maintaining the stability of the grid," said Gupta.
Following the recent collapse of power grids, the central government had planned to take steps, including penal punishment of Chief Secretaries of the States that overdraw power leading to grid failure.
Gupta also said that the central government never blamed Uttar Pradesh for the collapse of power supply, which took place on July 30 and 31.
The electricity grid failure had plunged half of 1.2 billion people across north and northeastern India into darkness on July 31.
"The Center at any point of time did not say that Uttar Pradesh is to be blamed for the collapse of three grids on July 31. An investigation committee was formed and it had to submit a report. The report is out and in that also they have no where blamed Uttar Pradesh," he added.
Further he stated that the officials were successful in maintaining constant power supply during the holy month of Ramadan.
Power shortages and a creaky road and rail network have weighed heavily on the country's efforts to industrialise.
Grappling with the slowest economic growth in nine years, New Delhi recently scaled back a target to pump a trillion dollars into infrastructure over the next five years. ( ANI )
