Alcatel-Lucent and Vivox deliver real-time audio to MMOG community.

TELECOMWORLDWIRE-14 May 2007-Alcatel-Lucent and Vivox deliver real-time audio to MMOG community(C)1994-2007 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Communications solutions provider Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris:ALU)(NYSE:ALU) has announced that it is working with Vivox, a company providing managed voice communication services for online games, virtual worlds and online communities, to deliver real-time audio to Vivox's global online gaming customers.

The companies confirmed Alcatel-Lucent's OmniTouch Advanced Communications Server (ACS), which supports OmniTouch My Teamwork, will be used to deliver the real-time audio. The SIP-based server offers a scalable communications platform which is able to support tens of thousands of users with high-quality voice interaction within the Vivox Massively Multiplayer Online Gaming (MMOG) community.

The solution enables players to communicate 'inside' the game, rather than by e-mail and instant messaging, providing a more realistic experience, with voice technology to match the graphics and storylines of typical MMOGs.

OmniTouch ACS offers distributed architecture and multi-tenancy capability which enables Vivox to support multiple games and communities. It provides XML and SIP-based APIs to allow multimedia Internet-enabled applications to be created quickly and has enabled Vivox to reduce its time-to-market and produce a fully featured voice application in ten months.
