Albertsons sells 3 units to H-E-B.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas--H-E-B has acquired three Texas locations from Albert-sons LLC. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed, but the acquisition is expected to close by mid-October.

The stores are located in College Station, Kerrville and New Braunfels. According to a published report, only the Kerrville store will reopen as an H-E-B unit--the second in that community--since the San Antonio-based grocer opened new outlets in New Braunfels in July 2010 and in College Station in September 2010. Instead, the acquired locations in those towns will be leased out

H-E-B reportedly plans to open 20 stores in the course of this year. Albertsons sold most of its stores in the San Antonio area in 2006 and 2007, and the locations being sold to H-E-B represent its last in this part of the state.
