Alaskan Amber takes 1st place at Chicago beer tasting

For the Alaskan Brewing Co.'s Alaskan Amber beer, last year closed with a shower of gold and awards.

Not only did the Amber bring home its third gold medal from the Great American Beer Festival in November, it also excelled at the Chicago Beer Society's 14th Annual International Tasting. This yearly Chicago event is the only major blind tasting of the world's best beers.

Samuel Adams Boston Lager finished in second place with 140 points, while Chicago Brewing Co.'s Legacy Lager, which was voted Gold Medal Lager, took third place with 120 points.

Other beers involved in the competition, in order of finish were: Bass Ale, Belhaven Scottish Ale, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Capital Wild Rice Beer, Sapporo Winter's Tale, McEwans's Export, Warsteiner Premium Verum, Boags Premium Lager, and Simpatico Gold.
