Alaska Air Group to repurchase up to USD50m of common stock.

Alaska Air Group Inc (NYSE: ALK) said Thursday that its board of directors have approved a stock repurchase programme, thus authorising the company to buy up to USD50m of its common stock.

Under the repurchase programme Alaska Air Group will be able to purchase its common stock from time to time through open market purchases, negotiated transactions or other means. The company plans to fund these repurchases with cash on hand.

In 2007 and 2008 Alaska Air Group repurchased almost USD112m of its common stock.
