Al Shabab steal show with Al Jazira defeat.

Abu Dhabi Al Shabab snatched the leadership, of the second group, in the Etisalat Cup after beating reigning champions Al Jazira 2-1 in the last day of the preliminary round. Al Wasl, former leaders of the group, finished second as both got promoted to the semi-finals.

Al Shabab increased their tally to 18 points as Mahmoud Qasim put them into the lead in the 6th minute while Ciao added the second, five minutes before the break.

Sultan Bargash missed a penalty for the visitors and Mohammad Salem scored their consolation goal in the 58th minute to finish 5th with 10 points.

Al Wasl lost at home to Sharjah with a single goal scored by Brazilian Marcelo in the 30th minute as Sharjah finished third with 14 points.
