Al Qaeda leader killed in Chagai: Balochistan Home Minister.
QUETTA -- Balochistan Home Minister, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti has said that a leader of Al Qaeda was killed and his wife was arrested in a law enforcement operation in Chagai.
Addressing a crowded news conference, here on Sunday, he said that law enforcement agencies following intelligence operation carried out operation in Chagai, during that a leader of Al Qaeda was killed and his wife was arrested.
Al Qaeda chief for Balochistan and Southern Punjab identified as Omar Abdul Latif alias Luqman has been killed in an operation conducted by Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) and his wife recognized as Tayyaba alias Fareeha Baji was arrested in an area of Chagai near Pak-Afghan border on Sunday, he said.
He said that the Al Qaeda leader entered Balochistan from Afghanistan some eight to 10 months ago. He was heading Al Qaeda network for Balochistan and South Punjab, he said, adding that the wife of the Al Qaeda leader was being interrogated by special investigation teams. He said that two children of the couple was also taken into custody.
The Home Minister said that the Al Qaeda leader killed in the security operation was planning to establish Al Qaeda Sub-Continent Center in Balochistan. We have foiled a plot of terrorist, he said adding that law and situation has been improved in Balochistan at satisfactory level.
