Al Fair raises OMR2,500 for charity.
Muscat : Almouj Golf played host to the inaugural Al Fair Charity Golf Day, an annual event that sees golfers raise money for charitable causes during a golf tournament, also featuring a charity dinner auction. All proceeds from the charity auction were split equally between the J9 Foundation -- Hope for Motor Neuron Disease sufferers, and a local charity based in Oman. The J9 Foundation was formed by legendary South African rugby player Joost van der Westhuizen, who was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease in 2011, a degenerative disorder which effects normal muscle activity. Currently, there is no cure for MND. The J9 Foundation not only supports MND patients but their families to live a better life. The format adopted was a Texas Scramble-4 ball for OGC Handicap holders. Nicky Charlton's team triumphed with a score of 67. Fay D'Abo achieved success with the ladies' nearest pin prize on the second-to-last hole, whil Tenzin Tsarong won the men's nearest pin title on the second hole. For the ladies' longest drive, Sarah Morris came top on the 10th hole and Steve Little achieved the longest drive among the men on the seventh.
