Airtel cuts post- paid freebies.

TELECOM giant Bharti Airtel has cut down on freebies for some of its post- paid subscribers by up to 20 per cent. A company official said that tariffs have been raised for postpaid subscribers in the Delhi- NCR circle who were being offered much cheaper rates.

" Tariffs have been hiked for those customers who were paying rates that were much lower than the headline tariff.

This gap has been reduced but there is no change in the headline tariff," the official further said.

Industry observers expect voice tariffs to gradually rise.

Airtel and Vodafone had raised tariffs in January this year by reducing some free promotional minutes. The Sunil Bharti Mittal- led company had recently stated that it still has scope to increase tariffs by up to 35 per cent.
