Air Canada Bring passport along with Nexus card. Air Canada is urging travelers to and from the U.S. to carry a passport, even if they have a Nexus card that signifies they have been pre-screened. Alaska Airlines Alaska Airlines Begins Three New Routes Linking Hawaii and the West Coast. Alaska Airlines is launching three new routes linking the West Coast and the Hawaiian Islands, with new seasonal service between Portland, Ore., and Kauai beginning Nov 5; between Bellingham, Wash., and Maui beginning Nov. 8; and between Anchorage, Alaska, and Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii beginning Nov. 10. American Airlines AA offers double-mile rewards to compensate for flight disruptions. American Airlines has announced that frequent fliers will be getting double elite-qualifying miles for flights from through Dec. 31 to compensate for flight disruptions that passengers experienced during the carrier's contract negotiations with its pilots. The airline appears to be nearing an agreement with leaders of the union, who hope to "reach a final agreement this week to be voted on by pilots," this feature says. Nov 6, 2012

American Airlines recently announced that customers its frequent-flier program who travel on the airline through Dec. 31 are eligible to receive double mileage points for those flights. Boeing, US Airways US Airways Returns Seasonal Service To Shannon, Ireland. US Airways customers will once again have convenient access to the "Gateway to the West of Ireland" when the airline resumes daily non-stop service from its international gateway at Philadelphia to Shannon, Ireland on May 22, 2013 after a nearly four-year hiatus.E The airline will operate flights to Shannon on 176-seat dual-class Boeing 757-200 aircraft until Sept. 3, 2013. Cal Jet Air Cal Jet To Operate New International Service To Mazatlan. Cal Jet Air, a United States air service operated by XTRA Airways, announced that will offer international service to Mazatlan, its first tourist destination in Mexico, beginning this winter season. The pilot program begins January 9, 2013, and ends April 9, 2013, with nine weekly flights of 150-passenger capacity (1,350 total seats per week) from Houston, San Antonio, Denver, Los Angeles and Oakland, California. Frontier Airlines Fly Frontier to Jackson Hole this Ski Season. Frontier Airlines announced it will expand on its existing annual summer seasonal nonstop service between Denver, Colo. Orbitz O'Hare and LAX Top Orbitz List of Busiest Thanksgiving Airports. Chicago O'Hare (ORD) and Los Angeles International (LAX) will see the biggest crowds of any U.S. airports over the Thanksgiving holiday, according to new data from Orbitz. The Orbitz Thanksgiving Insider Index analyzed booking data from the top 50 U.S. airports to find the locations where flyers will flock to head home for the holidays. Additionally, the Index used booking data to identify the least-busy airport options, where in some cases travelers can trade a little more time in the car for far smaller crowds in the terminal. Spirit Airlines Airlines must collect taxes, even for passengers who don't fly. One traveler recently found out that even though he didn't use his ticket, he would be unable to get a refund on taxes collected by Spirit Airlines; a few weeks later, using a voucher from Spirit, he would have to pay taxes again. "Federal taxes comprise approximately $60 on a typical $300 ticket," e-mailed Victoria Day, spokeswoman for Airlines for America. "Airlines do not keep any taxes collected and remit all funds to the government per tax law." Nov 9, 2012
