Airdrie........................3 Arbroath.......................0; LEAGUE 1.

Ian Murray reckons his Airdrie men had a point to prove as they thumped the 10-man champions.

Leighton McIntosh tapped in after Dean Hawkshaw rounded the keeper 39 minutes in.

With Thomas O'Brien off for dragging Hawkshaw down, McIntosh buried a Declan Glass cross. Sean McIntosh tapped home in injury time and Murray believes the fact most players are soon out of contract played a part.

He said: "They'd a point to prove. Some of the boys from the fringes came in and did fantastically well. We're always assessing people and that changed the dynamics a bit."

Red Lichties manager Dick Campbell said: "Our standards are a lot better than that."
