Aero-Dienst Aero-Dienst has become the first business aviation services provider in Germany to receive a head-up display HUD-IIIA licence from the German civil aviation authority. The approval - equivalent to a CAT-IIIA licence for airlines - paves the way for the Nuremberg-based company to fly its Dassault Falcon 900EX EASy business jet in adverse weather conditions with a cloud base up to 50ft (15m) and runway visibility at 175m, the company says. Airbus Major airframers, seat manufacturers and in-flight entertainment (IFE) suppliers on 17 May will gather for a workshop at Airbus' Hamburg facilities to discuss the integration of next generation IFE systems into seat design and ideas for improving industry standardisation, in what could pave the way for a new level of collaboration in the aircraft cabin. Sponsored by Airbus, the World Airline Entertainment Association (WAEA) single focus workshop on seats and IFE has been scheduled to coincide with the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, which runs 18-20 May. AmSafe AmSafe announced it has purchased "certain intellectual property and other assets" of Hoffmann Air Cargo Equipment, a company specializing in the manufacture of ULD pallet nets. Transaction details were not disclosed. May 4, 2010

Boeing, Monarch Aircraft Engineering Boeing has confirmed the selection of UK maintenance company Monarch Aircraft Engineering as a new partner for its GoldCare programme. In a statement today Boeing says the Monarch Airlines sister company has joined its GoldCare team and will provide scheduled light and heavy maintenance for Boeing 787s. May 4, 2010

Dornier, 328 Support Services A private Dornier 328 owner based in Milan, Italy has selected 328 Support Services to complete a VIP conversion of the twin turboprop. The deal marks the first turboprop conversion to be undertaken by the Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany-based company, which is the type certificate holder for the Dornier 328 family. 328 Support has completed eight conversions of the 328JET variant in five years and three more upgrades are in the pipeline. Embraer Embraer's authorised service centre network is spreading in Europe with the relocation of Ruag's maintenance base from Zurich airport to two new locations. One is in Oberpfaffenhofen, near Munich in Germany and the other is in Geneva. The Swiss maintenance, repair and overhaul facility will provide Legacy 600 line maintenance services for scheduled and unscheduled inspections, while the German site will also offer heavy maintenance, aircraft painting and interior refurbishment. Gama Aviation Gama Aviation will break ground this month on its first European fixed-base operation and hangar at Glasgow airport in Scotland. The 2,000m2 (21,520ft2) facility is scheduled for completion in 12 months. The expansion is part of the Farnborough, UK-based business aviation services provider's strategy to cultivate key markets on both sides of the Atlantic during the economic slowdown in preparation for the market revival. Lufthansa Technik Lufthansa Technik said it now offers a VIP cabin quick-change kit for Airbus and Boeing narrowbody aircraft. It said with its detailed manual the conversion can be made by any Part 145 organization and the installation can be made along existing seat tracks. The kit offers "a variety of cabin layouts" as well as the option to integrate optional inflight entertainment. May 4, 2010

Ocean Sky Ocean Sky has agreed a multimillion dollar deal to buy one of Monarch Aircraft Engineering's two hangars at London Luton airport. The 4,275m2 (46,000ft2) hangar will give Ocean Sky stand capacity for up to 20 aircraft and allow it to operate a second full engineering facility for Bombardier business aircraft, on top of the one at its Manchester Jet Centre in the north of England. The company is also keen to extend this offering to other airframers - notably Dassault - at a later date. May 3, 2010

Oriens Advisors, InterFlight Global Entry-level jet sector consultancy Oriens Advisors has signed a memorandum of understanding with Miami-based InterFlight Global (IFG). The transatlantic relationship will see Oriens supplying a number of complementary services to IFG's existing offering. The two companies have already begun working with mutual clients including a UK light jet operation that was looking for operational support. May 3, 2010

Private Wings Flugcharter, Dornier, 328 Support Services Private Wings Flugcharter has awarded 328 Support Services a five-year contract to maintain its six Dornier 328 airliners. The work will be carried out at 328 Support Support's hangar facilities at Oberpfaffonhofen, near Munch. A specialist in ad hoc charter and corporate shuttle services, Private Wings is headquartered at Berlin Schonefeld airport and has operating bases in Manching and Augsburg. May 4, 2010

Sky Maintenance Services, AgustaWestland Sky Maintenance Services has been appointed as an authorised service centre for AgustaWestland's A109 series, AW109 Power, Grand and GrandNew helicopters. The company, based in Le Castellet in southern France, is adding a new hangar that will provide maintenance and repair services, as well as holding a spare parts inventory, for the AgustaWestland light twin models, of which around 20 have been sold in France. May 6, 2010

Turkish Technic, Sky Express, Boeing Turkish Technic signed a base maintenance contract with Sky Express to perform one C6 check on a Boeing 737-500. Work will be carried out at Turkish Technic's Istanbul facilities this month. May 6, 2010

Weston Aviation Newquay Cornwall Airport and its fixed based operator Weston Aviation are at the show for the third year in a row, this time to launch their new FBO facility that provides clients and crews with a VIP lounge, self-briefing facilities and direct controlled zone airside access with private parking. Weston Aviation, which opened its executive/business aviation facility at Newquay in 2003, reports a 14% increase in executive handling in the first quarter of 2010. May 3, 2010
