Provider of in-flight connectivity Aircell on Sunday announced that its Aircell Axxess communications system and Data Interface Unit (DIU) have received approval in SITA's Validation, Assessment & Qualification (VAQ) programme.

This qualification is said to validate Aircell's satcom equipment and ensures that it meets all the performance requirements for operations in a Future Air Navigation System (FANS) environment.

Aircell also said it has published a new Technology Brief entitled Understanding FANS over Iridium (FOI), for the business aviation market.
