AirTran delays delivery of eight aircraft.

AirTran Holdings Inc has delayed delivery of eight Boeing 737s.

The parent company of AirTran Airways yesterday (27 September) said in a filing made with the US Securities and Exchange Commission that it is rescheduling the delivery of five aircraft from the second half of 2007 and three aircraft from the first quarter of 2008 for delivery from 2009 through to 2011.

The delayed aircraft are single-aisle short- to medium-haul Boeing 737-700s, Reuters reported.
