Air New Zealand to reexamine Ansett's fleet programme.

After receiving approval from the Australian federal government to complete the acquisition of Ansett Holdings Ltd, Air New Zealand has indicated that it will now start examining purchase requirements and plans for the carrier.

Jim McCrea, the managing director of Air New Zealand Ltd, has told Dow Jones Newswires that Ansett's current fleet replacement programme will be modified since Air New Zealand's fleet is only seven years old.

The acquisition of the remaining 50% of Ansett will mean the carriers' international, domestic and trans-Tasman requirements will be examined in combination also.
