DHL Express DHL is adding five Boeing 737-400s DHL, the worldOs leading international express provider, is adding five Boeing 737-400 aircraft to expand its service routes within the Americas as part of a multi-year service agreement with US cargo carrier Southern Air. The aircraft will provide delivery to routes in a fuel-efficient manner, in keeping with DHLOs Go Green commitment to environmental protection. The five aircraft will be rolled out during the first half of 2014, expanding the fleet already in place along key growing trade routes in the Americas. OThere will be two aircraft based in Venezuela and three aircraft in the U.S.O Current planned routes include flights from Caracas (CCS), Venezuela, to Barbados (BGI) and Trinidad and Tobago (POS) in the Caribbean, as well as from Caracas to Bogota (BOG), Colombia, and Panama (PTY). In the United States, the new aircraft would add flights from the Cincinnati Hub (CVG) to several cities along the Northeast and Midwest, including Philadelphia (PHL), Hartford (BDL) and St. Louis (STL). Etihad Cargo Etihad Cargo will enhance its Chinese cargo services Etihad Cargo, part of United Arab Emirates (UAE) national airline Etihad Airways, will enhance its Chinese cargo services later this month when it increases bellyhold cargo capacity between Abu Dhabi and Chengdu. Effective 30 March, cargo capacity to and from Chengdu will grow 40 per cent to 930 tonnes per month, a result of the current five times a week Airbus A330 passenger service between Abu Dhabi and Chengdu moving to a daily operation. Chengdu is a leading economic, transportation and communications centre in China, where nearly half of the worldOs Fortune 500 companies have operations. Situated in Sichuan province which is home to more than 80 million people, Chengdu is also one of ChinaOs biggest markets for Foreign Direct Investment. FedEx FedEx Freight will increase shipping rates FedEx Freight, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (FDX), will increase shipping rates by an average of 3.9%, effective March 31, 2014. This rate change applies to eligible FedEx Freight[umlaut] shipments within the U.S. (including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands), between the contiguous U.S. and Canada, within Canada, between the contiguous U.S. and Mexico, and within Mexico. This rate change for FedEx Freight applies to shipments covered by the FXF 1000, FXF 501 and other related series base rates. Additional changes will include absolute minimum charges and accessorial rates and charges. The FedEx Freight fuel surcharge will remain unchanged and is one of the lowest in the LTL industry. The new base rates, rules tariff and accessorial charges for FedEx Freight will be available at on March 31, 2014. UPS United Parcel Service said it buy 1,000 propane-fueled delivery trucks United Parcel Service Inc, the world's largest courier company, said it would buy 1,000 propane-fueled delivery trucks and install an initial 50 fueling stations in the United States at a total cost of about $70 million. The propane fleet will replace gasoline- and diesel-fueled vehicles used largely in rural areas in Louisiana and Oklahoma, UPS said on Wednesday.
