Ahli Tripoli Win UAE Tournament.

In view of the commencement in a few week's time of the 2012/13 Football League Championship, Libyan clubs have been testing their strength mostly in warm-up games against foreign opposition, mostly outside of Libya. One of these clubs, Ahli Tripoli, who with Al Ittihad had dominated the previous domestic competitions, took part in, and won an international Tournament in the United Arab Emirates.

In the event organised by local club Al Dhafra, Al Ahli participated with the hosts, Egypt's Ismaili, and Oman's Al Seb. The Libyan representatives proved their mettle despite their lack of competition by beating beat the Egyptians 3-1 and then drawing 1- with Emirates' Al Dhafra.

Due to conflicts with the Omani football Federation, Omani Al Seb's results and points were cancelled and so too their final match against Libya's representatives.

After taking into account the points gained from the clashes with Al Dhafra and Ismaili, and following Al Dhafra's draw against Ismaili in the final match, the organisers procalimed the Libyans winners of the event.

After their triumph the Al Ahli players carried a banner with the words: 'Greetings to the Martyrs of February 17', and dedicated their victory to the martyrs.
