Agri deptt recommends 'loosen' cultivation by Nov 15.

MULTAN -- Punjab agriculture department urged upon farmers to cultivate 'Loosen' (Fodder) as once it is cultivated, it continued to grow for five to seven years automatically.

Thus it fulfill fodder requirement of cattle, especially used for transportation purposes, for many years. The farmers should cultivate 'Loosen' by November 15 because it is an ideal time for enhanced production, said assistant director agriculture information Naveed Asmat Kohloon in a statement issued here on Wednesday. He informed that four to six kilogram healthy seed is sufficient for one acre. He added that Sargodha Loosen 2002 was best recommended variety. However, he proposed farmers to select fertile land.

He also suggested farmers to contact agriculture department for any quiry about cultivation of the Loosen fodder.
