Agfa Monotype Introduces Baseline and FontSmith Foundries on

This roadmap is exemplified in how Baseline Fonts describes its goal. Nathan Williams, Baseline's founder, says the foundry works to provide "uninterpreted" revivals of type samples generated through disappearing printing methods while creating new fonts for dissemination in the type community. Williams' appreciation for typographic history is evident in designs such as Old Times American(TM), a typeface that imitates the less-than-perfect impressions of letterpress printing. Another example is Licious Script(TM), a nostalgic design inspired by logotypes used in the early 1900s. The 22 Baseline fonts and font packages are available for Macintosh(R) and Microsoft(R) Windows(R) platforms in PostScript(R) or TrueType(R) formats. Prices for individual Baseline fonts begin at $30 with font volumes starting at $62.

FontSmith founder, Jason Smith, creates each of his typefaces with branding and corporate identity projects in mind. The six-font Sophie(TM) family uses deep curves and smooth lines to create a modern look. The Albert(TM) family consists of nine simple sans serif designs with weights varying from thin to extra bold. Most FontSmith fonts are available in Macintosh PostScript and Windows TrueType formats with several fonts also available in Macintosh TrueType and Windows PostScript. Prices for individual FontSmith fonts begin at $84 with font volumes starting at $286.
