Worldwide Computer Products News-19 September 2001-Agere Systems releases single-port Active Ethernet power injector (C)1995-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

US-based Agere Systems has launched a single-port ORiNOCO Active Ethernet power injector, designed to enable companies to reduce the cost and time required to set up smaller wireless networks.

Complementing previously introduced 6-port and 12-port Ethernet injectors for larger wireless LANs, the new injector provides DC power (48 volts) for up to 300-feet Ethernet cable runs. The product works with all Agere wireless access points, access servers and outdoor routers, including the ORiNOCO AP-500, AP-1000, OR-1000 and AS-2000.

As all ORiNOCO Active Ethernet devices, the power injector also offers a safety feature - called Automatic Load Sensing - that ensures that power is fed only to network equipment that can accept it, to prevent equipment damage and network downtime.

The single-port Active Ethernet power injector is available for USD169.
