After the Queen; I'M RISKING MY NECK BY DESERTING 25/1 HEROINE.

Byline: PADDY POWER

HOMECOMING QUEEN must be one of your favourite horses if you're foolhardy enough to follow my tips! She's the one who won the English 1,000 Guineas for us at 25/1 a couple of weeks ago.

She's running in the Irish equivalent today but unfortunately we'll be getting closer to Evens rather than fancy prices!

To be fair, everything that could go right for her at Newmarket did. The half hour delay to the race would have inconvenienced her a little less than everything else as she's much more experienced than the others.

Even taking that into account though, she did make mincemeat of her rivals and it's a less competitive race today.

I'm deserting her though as these fillies can be a bit flaky, so I'd prefer a big-priced each-way bet to get stuck into.

The strategy of going for the Aidan O'Brien second string worked on Homecoming Queen at Newmarket and came within inches of working with Tower Hill against Light Heavy a couple of weeks ago. So, as they - whoever they are - say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

The second string we're going for today is After. She finished fourth in the French Guineas behind Beauty Parlour, who is probably the best filly in Europe at the moment.

Not that she would have won or anything, but she was a little unlucky in running that day.

She looks another progressive type and I think she's a cracker of an eachway bet.

The other Group One on the card is the Tattersalls Gold Cup, won by So You Think last year.

To be perfectly honest, I'll eat my hat if he gets beaten today - he might be short odds but he'll win.
