Aetna insurance program is aimed at wholesalers

Aetna Life & Casualty announced it has introduced an insurance program created for the nation's 72,000 food and beverage wholesalers.

Aetna's Food and Beverage Wholesalers Program was developed after extensive research involving interviews with many food wholesalers and insurance agents around the country, a company spokesperson said.

"During our interviews, we learned that wholesalers have several important insurance concerns," said Karen Jenen, Aetna's marketing executive responsible for the plan. "First, they want to work with someone who knows their business. Second, they require a variety of specialized coverage options.

"Next, they want expert loss control and superior claim service, and finally, they said they want to buy insurance from a stable, financially sound company," she explained.

"Our program offers several coverage options that wholesalers identified as being vital to their business including spoilage, extra expense, business income, water damage, and transit," related Richard Maffuccio, Aetna's underwriting executive for the wholesaler program.

Maffuccio added that the beverage wholesaler insurance plan is available nationwide through those insurance agencies representing Aetna.
