General Atomics Tests aim to boost safety for remotely piloted aircraft. General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. officials have teamed up with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection, and the Federal Aviation Administration to test an Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast surveillance system on a Predator/Gray Eagle-series aircraft. Honeywell (HON) has been awarded a follow-on five-year contract, worth $181 million, from the NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (WSS) to provide logistics support for auxiliary power units (APUs) for F/A-18 A-G (including F/A-18 Australian F/G models), P-3, C-2, as well as F/A-18 main fuel controls (MFC) and the P-3 engine-driven compressor (EDC). Lockheed Martin, Rockwell Collins Lockheed says it's making progress made on new F-35 helmet. A new high-tech helmet for F-35 pilots is getting good reviews from test flights, Lockheed Martin says, and tests continue on the helmet's night-vision performance.
