Aer Lingus Expands its Discover Ireland Program; More Choices Add Greater Flexibility to Self-Drive Vacations

NEW YORK, Feb. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Aer Lingus, the national airline of Ireland, has redesigned its Discover Ireland program, offering vacationers in 1998 greater flexibility to custom-design tours of Ireland and selected United Kingdom and European cities which the airline serves.

Travelers may choose a prebooked City and Country stay with confirmed hotel reservations at a variety of hotels, country inns and castles, or travel at their own pace with open-dated bed and breakfast or hotel accommodations. And, they may easily add an Avis car rental with models to fit every need. All options are priced separately, and there are no minimum-maximum stay requirements.

"The improvements to our Discover Ireland program provide independent travelers who want to custom design their vacations with an array of products," said Jack Foley, executive vice president of Aer Lingus North America. "By making an already great vacation option even better, Aer Lingus has lived up to its commitment to help plan the perfect vacation with quality and good value, keeping the comfort and enjoyment of the traveler in mind."

Aer Lingus's Go-As-You-Please vacation is ideal for travelers who want the highest degree of flexibility. Vacationers arrive in Ireland with the first night's accommodations prebooked. For the rest of their stay, they travel around the country at their own pace with open-dated, prepaid accommodations vouchers which allow them to choose from more than 1,000 quality bed and breakfasts and more than 200 modern hotels in cities and towns, or small family-owned inns in the countryside. Prices for the Go-As-You-Please accommodations start at $26 per person per night. Avis car rental rates start at $60 for a two-day rental and include unlimited mileage and tax.

The Discover Ireland Dublin City Stay allows travelers to get acquainted with the special charms of Ireland's capital. Prices start at $55 per person, sharing, and include one night's accommodation in a first class hotel and a full Irish breakfast.
