Advice to man who interfered.

34-YEAR-OLD man, who attacked a father because he thought he had over-punished his stepson was told by the Cardiff Stipendiary Magistrate today: "If everyone starts giving everyone else what he thinks they deserve we are going to have chaos. Violence is not the cure for violence."

The man, of Loudon Square, Cardiff, was fined PS5 and ordered to pay two guineas advocates fee and PS2 12s 6d costs when he pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Mr M Phillips, prosecuting said the child's stepfather was on the doorstep of his house when his stepson arrived home late. He hit the boy who went into the house and was about to close the door when he was assaulted.

He was punched and fell to the floor and when his wife helped him up, he was hit again.

When seen by the police constable the man said "I hit him because no-one is going to hit a kid like that".

He said he became incensed because the stepfather was punishing him more than was justified and that he was being beaten rather than punished.
