Advice to beat crime.

Police are putting on a day of crime prevention events.

Northumbria Police community support officers will be at Luke's Lane Community House in Hebburn on Saturday, from 10am to 3pm with free security advice and security stamping for bikes.

Sea views

AN exhibition of work by Northumberland artist Mick Oxley is on at Grey College in Durham.

Northumberland Seascapes, runs from June 2 to 29, and all of the paintings displayed are for sale. Mr Oxley lives in Craster.

Family fun

GATESHEAD Citizens Advice Bureau celebrates its 50th anniversary with a family fun day on Saturday at Gateshead Leisure Centre from 10am.

It will feature a range of attractions and Tyne Bridge MP David Clelland will be playing his guitar and singing.

Coming down

DEMOLITION work has begun in Thornaby town centre as part of a regeneration scheme.

Work on new shops and offices will start in autumn.
