Adventureseek Sponsors "Race For The Big Cats" Online Drive and Offers

Adventurers a Way to Contribute and Benefit from Adventure Travel

For those who yearn for adventure, the call of the wild or the trip of a lifetime, Adventureseek (http://www.adventureseek.com) may have the tickets they're looking for. As sponsors of Care2.com's "Race for the Big Cats," Adventureseek is encouraging fellow travelers and wildlife lovers to log on to www.care2.com to generate funds for the Wildlife Conservation Society in its efforts to save Tigers, Jaguars and Snow Leopards around the world.

To participate in this online donation race, simply go to www.care2.com now through Oct. 4, 2000, and click on one of the three endangered cats. Each click generates a donation by Adventureseek and other sponsors to the Wildlife Conservation Society. One hundred percent of the funds generated will go toward Ranger protection and services for endangered big cat habitat and species. At the completion of the online race for donations, the top 100 participants -- those that actively recruited others to log on and click for donations -- will be entered into a random drawing to win a trip for two from Adventureseek partner Outer Edge Expeditions. In addition, Adventureseek.com will provide roundtrip airfare for two and a $200 certificate redeemable for REI gear and equipment (for use at any REI store or through REI mail order catalog).

"The environment and the wildlife that inhabit it are the attraction for adventure travelers and that's why most of us who enjoy adventure travel also want to preserve it for ourselves and others to enjoy," said Yasmine Ahmed, vice president, Sales and Marketing, Adventureseek. "Supporting Care2.com and The Wildlife Conservation Society is a great way to get people involved in protecting these amazing animals and their habitat. Being able to make a difference through the Internet and adventure travel is an exciting and innovative opportunity for us, and we're looking forward to being involved in the Race for the Big Cats."

Adventureseek is hoping to increase excitement for the "Race for the Big Cats" donation drive by featuring a once-in-a-lifetime expedition organized by their partner Outer Edge Expeditions, who specialize in adventurous eco-travel. On this 13-day journey, the winners will explore Manu National Park & Biosphere Reserve in Peru -- the most remote and undisturbed part of the Amazon. The National Park and Reserve boasts four million acres of tropical forest and hundreds of miles of river shared by numerous exotic animals including the Jaguar, anacondas and more than 850 species of birds. Adventureseek believes Outer Edge is a great match for this program because they contribute a portion of their proceeds to local conservation and research projects. The contribution funds go directly towards supporting the expedition area -- not halfway around the globe.

"We are thrilled to be working with a industry leader like Adventureseek," said Susan Preletz, marketing manager for Care2.com. "The grand prize trip for two to the Amazon in Peru combined with the opportunity to support the habitat of the Tiger, the Jaguar and the Snow Leopard is a wonderful incentive for adventure and environmentally conscious travelers alike to participate in Care2.com's Race for the Big Cats."

And, for those who are inspired to immediately start planning an adventure to the Amazon or elsewhere in the world, Adventureseek will gladly help provide the gear. Travelers who purchase a trip through Adventureseek.com by July 31, 2000 will receive a $100 REI gift certificate. To begin planning an adventure, log on to www.adventureseek.com.

About Outer Edge Expeditions

Founded in 1988 by Brian Obrecht, his wife Lisa, and his brother Jim, Outer Edge Expeditions was created as an alternative to the watered down large group tours that seemed to be pervading the "adventure" market. From multisport adventures in New Zealand to cultural and active trips in Indonesia to dog mushing in Canada, Brian and his tribe of intrepid guides use their insider knowledge to share boundless information on the culture and geography of some of the world's most remote destinations. "We offer clients something a bit more physically challenging than most other outfitters," explained Brian. "These trips are exciting, active and really off the wall. On our trips, we experience things that immerse us in the destination." Outer Edge sends small adventurous groups to 5 continents and also arranges personalized adventures.
