Advanstar Comm. sells "Global Cosmetics Industry" to Allured Publ.
GCI is a monthly magazine with a mostly-controlled circulation of 16,500. Launched in 1914, the title is targeted to manufacturers of cosmetics, personal care products and perfumes, materials distributors, suppliers, retail outlets and industry research organizations. Nancy Allured, publisher of Allured's Cosmetics & Toiletries, said the acquisition "fills an important niche in our company. Our current readers will be well served by a strong publication for the business side of the industry."
Allured president Theresa LaFontaine said the deal "complements our current titles by allowing us to build upon and strengthen relationships that already exist" through the companies other magazines. Besides C&T, Allured also publishes Perfumer & Flavorist, Skin Inc. for owners of skin care salons and spas, and the Journal of Essential Oil Research.
