A second workshop, held during December 2007 in London, proved to be the stimulus for planning annual events for researchers and practitioners to share information on how content and service providers are adapting and personalizing broadband content and form for their customers. The 18 papers here from that gathering, having survived two rounds of peer review, discuss such aspects as research directions toward user-centric multimedia, video adaptation based on content characterizes and hardware capabilities, using information retrieval techniques for semantic media adaptation, personalized faceted navigation in semantically enriched information spaces, image-based synthesis for human facial expressions, semantic language for describing and detecting visual events.
