Advanced Medicine Conference Begins in SQU.

Muscat, Jan 29 (ONA) ---- The Advanced Medicine conference organized by Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), represented by the College of Medicine and Health Sciences in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Royal College of Physicians (London) was opened at SQU today under the auspices of Dr. Ali bin Saud al- Bimani, SQU Vice-Chancellor.

The Conference discusses a number of public health issues. It aims at providing wrap up for a number of medical issues and the developments made in health sciences. It also aims to familiarizing the medical staff in the Sultanate with the latest developments in the field of scientific research and the best ways of improving the rendered health services.Dr. Richard Thomson, Principal of the Royal College of Physicians in London delivered a speech where he praised the links and cooperation between the College and the health boards in the Sultanate.Prof. Sir Gordon Duff MA, BM BCh, PhD, FRCP, FRCPE, FMedSci. Nobel Prize Laureate and Chairman, Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) delivered a speech in the conference.At the first session, Professor David Warrell, the international director at the Royal College of Physicians (RCOP) made a presentation on the poisonous animals in the Arabian Peninsula, which has 12 types of poisonous snakes.Dr. Ian Pollok of RCP pointed out that that advice and support should be given high priority if we seek to develop the healthcare system.It is worth mentioning that the advanced medicine conference is an annual event that covers many health issues. It is also an ideal opportunities to present the latest researches on many medical trends.
