Adult sitter accused of raping 4-year-old.

Byline: The Register-Guard

Police have arrested a 36-year-old Eugene man on charges of raping a 4-year-old child who was left in his care.

Eugene Detective Tony Veach said the child disclosed the abuse to her parents. Police arrested Jeffery David Andrews on Friday and searched his home on Owosso Drive in the River Road area. Andrews was arraigned Monday on charges of first-degree rape, sodomy and sexual abuse, according to court records.

Veach said the child indicated that photographs may have been taken.

Veach said he could not discuss specific evidence in the case, but he said investigators do not believe that Andrews was involved in child pornography over the Internet.

Using a child in a display of sexual conduct carries a mandatory five-year, 10-month prison term under Measure 11.

Rape and sodomy each carry a mandatory eight-year, four-month term under Measure 11.

The victim's parents are acquainted with Andrews, and police are concerned that other children may have been victimized.

Anyone with information may phone Veach at 682-5172.
