Adolph Coors to help fund rolling mill in Australia

In a joint venture with Australia's Victoria government, an arm of Adolph Coors Co. will aid in the construction of a $236-million aluminum rolling mill in Bendigo, Victoria, a city in southern Australia.

According to Victoria premier, Joan Kirner, the proposed mill will produce rigid aluminum container sheet aluminum used to make food and beverage cans.

Kirner added that the raw material used in the mill will be provided by the Portland Aluminum smelter, which is 35-percent state owned.
