Adolescent sexual health education

HQ35

This sourcebook collects role plays, group activities, discussions, and homework for use in programs designed to change risky sexual behaviors among adolescents and young adults. The activities are drawn from the Program Archive on Sexuality, Health and Adolescence (PASHA). Each activity entry contains a description of the activity, tips for using and expanding it, suggestions on the background knowledge participants should have, and notes on age level and materials needed. There is also a sidebar of information on the original intervention and its developer. Most of the activities include 'attachments,' such as participant handouts, leader scripts, surveys, and homework worksheets. Appendices contain abstracts for each of the 34 programs in pregnancy prevention and STI/HIV/AIDS prevention available from PASHA. The book will be useful to those creating or working in health, sexuality, and family life programs for young people. Card has served as principal investigator of 70 grants and contracts funded by the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation. Benner is the project director of PASHA.
