Administrator asks municipal bodies to work jointly for cleanliness campaign.

KARACHI -- Administrator Karachi Saqib Ahmed Soomro has emphasised upon all municipal bodies to work jointly and cohesively with all available machinery and manpower for the ongoing cleanliness campaign in the city.

He was speaking at a meeting held at Civic Center regarding cleanliness drive which was attended by the Metropolitan Commissioner Masood Alam, D.G Parks Niaz Ahmed Soomro and other concerned officers, said a statement issued here on Monday.

It was informed at this meeting that the municipal organisations in Karachi removed and transferred about 8500 tonnes of garbage to the landfill sites during past one week whereas more than 20 thousand saplings were planted in the city during the campaign. The trees, electric poles and pavements have been painted and wall chalking removed to restore the beauty of the city.

Administrator Karachi on this occasion directed the Parks Department to speed up tree plantation work. He said the cleaning of roads, flyovers and bridges in the jurisdiction of KMC must be done on a permanent basis.
